Ignatius Piazza: The Man Who Is Safeguarding Schools

Dr. Ignatius Piazza is the founder and director of Front Sight Firearms Training Institute, the self-proclaimed world’s leader in firearms training. According to him, it is Dr. Piazza’s mission is to train America in safe, effective gun use, so that no American need ever fear for his life in a situation involving guns. It is his most recent effort, however, to arm school teachers. That’s right, Dr. Piazza is willing to give free concealed carry training to any teacher designated as a School Safety Monitor by the school district that teacher teaches in.

According to an article written in Sierra Times, there is recent evidence that a gun in the hand of a teacher will stop an armed attacker. The vice-principal of a school in Pearl, Miss., recently used his handgun to stop and detain an armed killer until the police arrived. Dr. Ignatius Piazza says, “It seems obvious that armed and trained staff members inside the school are in a better position to identify the attackers and do something immediately to resolve the situation. It is much harder for police, who arrive on the scene too late to stop the killing.” Obviously this was the case in Pearl, Miss. One begins to see the sense of what Dr. Ignatius Piazza says about arming teachers the more one listens to his rhetoric on school shootings.

Arming teachers is something that it seems many citizens of America would be opposed to. After all, we’ve reached a completely unprecedented era in American history when merely seeing a firearm or weapon of any kind instills fear into the hearts of common citizens. Why, then, should your average, fearful American like the idea of giving teachers firearm training? After all, how can we know the teachers would use the data responsibly? It’s not as if we turn to them daily to sculpt our most important resources’ futures. It’s not like they’re responsible as it is for keeping our children well and happy. After all, they’re only responsible for our children’s lives, what could guns POSSIBLY do to help that?
